Time Back: Flights from Russian Cities That Let You Go Back in Time

The OneTwoTrip travel service has studied air tickets issued from Russian cities since the beginning of 2019 and selected those that allow passengers to travel in time. That is, not just save time due to the difference in time zones, but arrive at their destination earlier than the plane took off from the departure airport (we are talking about comparing local time).

In total, the service's analysts managed to find several dozen such regular flights. The absolute record holder was the Yakutia Airlines flight from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to Anchorage (USA). Its passengers are in the air for 4 hours 10 minutes, while "returning back" for more than 15 hours. This is due to the fact that the plane flies the so-called date line, which passes through the Pacific Ocean.

The second place in the rating of unique flights was taken by UVT Aero flights from Perm to Kazan. The plane flies between the cities for one hour, and the time difference is two. Third place went to Ural Airlines flights from Vladivostok to Harbin (China). The situation is similar with them. The time difference between the cities is two hours, and the plane flies for 1 hour 05 minutes, returning passengers to the past by 55 minutes.

"Today, air transport allows you not only to quickly and comfortably get to any point in the world, but also sometimes to travel in time. Passengers on flights flying from east to west always face this feature due to the difference in time zones, it will not surprise anyone. But flights arriving before the departure time are much more interesting, since there are tens of times fewer of them," comments Leonid Ryaboshtan, head of the air direction of the OneTwoTrip service.
