Internet service experts conducted a survey Russian tourists to find out which feature films served as a guide for them when choosing a vacation spot. It turned out that Russians are most inspired to travel and vacation within the country by domestic films shot in Crimea, Sochi and St. Petersburg.
The leader of the survey was "Kidnapping, Caucasian Style", which received 39% votes. The popular Soviet comedy film was shot in Alushta, Krasnaya Polyana, as well as its environs, near Demerdzhi, in the Massandra region and near Mount Ai-Petri. "The Diamond Arm" inspired 14% Russian tourists. The famous film with Yuri Nikulin and Andrei Mironov in the leading roles was filmed in Sochi and Tuapse. The top three "calling" for a vacation in the country are "The Incredible Adventures of Italians in Russia" and "The Geographer Drank His Globe Away", which received 9% votes each. The action of the first takes place in St. Petersburg. The film about a geography teacher in the person of Konstantin Khabensky was filmed in the Perm region.
In addition, some Russians were prompted to travel around the country by the films "Sportloto-82" (Crimea), "Territory" (Taimyr in Krasnoyarsk Krai and Chukotka), "Piranha Hunt" (Karelia), "Walk" (Saint Petersburg), "Moscow, I Love You!" (Moscow) and "Crimean Bridge. Made with Love" (Crimea).
Movies that have won the love of viewers stimulate the development of tourism not only in Russia. For example, the number of tourists has increased significantly in the Croatian resort of Dubrovnik after the release of the series "Game of Thrones".
