Ryanair to launch 14 routes to Jordan

The largest European budget airline Ryanair announced the opening of flights to Jordan. For Russian tourists, they will offer the opportunity to get to this country without large expenses, reports our own correspondent Travel.ru.

Ryanair flights will operate on ten year-round routes from a number of European countries to the Jordanian capital Amman, as well as on several seasonal winter routes to Aqaba. So far, tickets are only sold for one route, which opens at the end of March – from Paphos in Cyprus. Tourists planning a vacation there can currently buy a flight from Paphos to Amman for 20-35 euros one way (luggage is not included in the price), including for summer dates. The route will be served four times a week.

Other routes to Amman are scheduled to open at the end of October. Flights are planned from Vilnius (2 times a week), Warsaw (2), Krakow (2), Prague (2), Budapest (2), Bucharest (2), Milan (3), Bologna (2), Brussels (2). Some of these airports are accessible from Russia for relatively little money, which will allow you to get a reasonable trip to Jordan.

Let us recall that direct regular flights from Russia to Amman are currently operated only by Royal Jordanian twice a week, and its prices start from approximately $600 round trip. There are also charter offers - mainly to Aqaba.

Ryanair is planning to fly to Aqaba only during the winter holiday season, from late October to March. It has scheduled flights from Athens (2 per week), Sofia (2), Rome (2) and Cologne (2) from October.

Let us remind you that Ryanair has recently changed its baggage and hand luggage policy. The company allows you to carry two items free of charge - a standard (55x40x20 centimeters) and a small (35x20x20). All standard bags are subject to free check-in at the boarding gate (not at the check-in counter!) from January 15, and only small bags can be carried on board.

There are exceptions to this rule. Both bags will be allowed to passengers who have chosen one of the baggage rates (Plus, Flexi Plus and Family Plus) or who have purchased priority boarding (which costs €5 or £5 when booking the ticket and €6 or £6 later – up to 30 minutes before departure). At the boarding gate, there are now two queues – for those entitled to carry both bags on board and everyone else.

Ryanair also has a service for checking in hand luggage at the check-in desk. It is very similar to what easyJet has recently introduced and costs a similar €5 or £5. However, unlike easyJet, where the service is available to everyone, on Ryanair flights it is only available to passengers who have previously purchased a regular checked bag.

As for regular baggage, Ryanair has also changed its rates. The 15 kg bag option is no longer available - only the 20 kg option is available, and its price has been reduced to the level of the previous 15 kg bag rate. As a standard, a 20 kg bag now costs 25 euros or pounds at the time of booking the ticket and 40 euros or pounds later. On peak days or on long holiday routes (Canary Islands, Greece, etc.), the price increases by 10 euros or pounds. However, on domestic flights, baggage is significantly cheaper - for example, within Germany, a bag at the time of booking can cost 11.9 euros, within Spain - 15-16 euros, within the UK or between the UK and Ireland - 10 pounds or euros, and so on.
