Rostourism on salmonella outbreak in the US

Rospotrebnadzor, citing data from the US Center for Disease Control (CDC), reports that 28 cases of salmonellosis have been registered in 20 US states. Acute intestinal infection has been reported in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, North Dakota, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Utah.

An epidemiological investigation revealed that the disease was caused by the use of the drug "Kratom", which is contaminated with the salmonella pathogen and is sold in pharmacy chains and is banned in several US states.

Rospotrebnadzor also recalls nearly 100 cases of salmonella in February in the states of Iowa and Minnesota. According to the conclusion of the Iowa Department of Agriculture's Food Safety Administration, the cause of the disease was contamination of chicken salad with the salmonella pathogen. The contaminated product was sold by Fareway Stores Inc. in the states of Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota.

The Federal Tourism Agency recommends that Russian citizens who are in the United States or planning trips to this country take this information into account. Rostourism also calls on tour operators selling tours to America to inform tourists about salmonella outbreaks in the United States.
