During the 2018 World Cup, Domodedovo passengers lost a samovar and a cauldron for plov

The press service of Moscow's Domodedovo Airport told what things passengers most often forget at the airport and on the plane. And how many owners return for them.

Every day, more than 150 personal items are forgotten by travelers at the airport or on board an airplane, ends up in unclaimed baggage rooms. Most of them - about 60% - are taken by passengers. By the way, this figure has grown by 15% over the course of the year.

Over the past eight months, Domodedovo passengers have most often left belts at the airport — 12% of the total number of forgotten items, as well as personal items, scarves, hats and gloves — 20%. Gadgets are left on board the aircraft in 20% cases: tablets, phones and e-books. During the World Cup, passengers managed to lose a samovar, a sombrero and… a huge cauldron for pilaf.

The airport press service reminds that items forgotten on board an aircraft are stored at the airport for six months. Items left on the airport premises are left in the unclaimed baggage room for one month.

Unclaimed baggage rooms are located in the arrival halls of domestic and international airlines. Items forgotten on board aircraft arriving from foreign countries and the CIS are placed in the unclaimed baggage room in the international arrivals hall. All items left by passengers on board aircraft arriving from cities in Russia, from the countries of the Customs Union of the Eurasian Economic Union (Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan), as well as all items found in the airport building, are placed in the unclaimed baggage room of domestic airlines. Items found at the airport are necessarily checked by the aviation security service, only after which they are transferred for storage.
