Analysts from the travel service Tutu.ru analyzed changes in travelers' interest in air travel to Egypt. It turned out that in the period from December 11, when Vladimir Putin made a statement on Egypt in Cairo, to December 18, the number of search queries for flights to the capital of the Arab state has doubled. The peak of searches falls on Friday, December 15, when the intergovernmental protocol was signed.
At the same time, the majority of respondents said that they were indifferent to the opening of Egypt. The service asked users of the site the question: "Are you waiting for the opening of air traffic and the sale of tours to Egypt?" In total, about 4.5 thousand people took part in the survey.
65% respondents were indifferent to the resumption of air traffic with Egypt. Half of them said that they do not expect flights to open, since they will not go on holiday to Egypt anyway. The other half expressed complete indifference to the news regarding the resumption of air traffic with the Arab Republic.
The remaining 35% respondents said that they are, of course, waiting for the restoration of direct flights to Egypt and the start of tour sales.
On Friday, December 15, Russia and Egypt signed an intergovernmental protocol allowing them to begin the preparatory procedures necessary to begin flights between the countries. Flights between Moscow and Cairo are expected to begin as early as February 2018.
