Chinese tourists are completely restricted from entering Russia

Starting from February 20, Chinese citizens will not be able to cross the Russian border because of coronavirus situation. The corresponding decision was approved by the operational headquarters under the leadership Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova.

 

 

"The decision has been made on the temporary suspension of the passage of citizens of the People's Republic of China across the state border of the Russian Federation, entering for work, private, educational and tourist purposes," reads a statement on the website of the Government of the Russian Federation.

The decision on restrictive measures has already been signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and will come into force at 00:00 local time on February 20, 2020.

In addition, Russia is temporarily suspending the acceptance of documents, the processing and issuance of invitations to enter the Russian Federation for the purpose of carrying out labor activities for citizens of China, permits to attract and use foreign workers and work permits for the said citizens located outside of Russia. However, the restrictions will not affect transit tourists.

We would like to add that Aeroflot does not yet plan to completely suspend flights between Russia and China. However, the carrier's press service has already reported a reduction in the frequency of flights to Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong (more details at the link: https://www.trn-news.ru/news/99029).
