On October 31, Moscow received the first passenger airliner from Muscat, thus marking the opening of direct air service between Russia and Oman.
Muscat is the capital of Oman, a port city on the Gulf of Oman, surrounded by mountains and desert. Now tourists will be able to fly to this city on direct flights, and also return to Moscow in the opposite direction.
As Rostourism notes, Russian-Omani tourist exchange is insignificant today. However, it is worth noting that Oman may be of interest to Russian tourists as a destination for diving and beach holidays. Russia, in turn, is also ready to offer Omani tourists various trips, holidays and health tours.
This route opens up a lot of opportunities for Russian travelers: Muscat Airport is a transit hub (passenger transfer point) that receives a large number of “connecting” flights to India, Thailand and other countries of Southeast Asia.
