Oman Air to offer free overnight stay to transit passengers in Muscat this summer

Oman Air has introduced a free overnight stay in Muscat during the summer for economy class passengers transiting through the Omani capital on its flights. The offer is valid from June 1 to September 30 for passengers traveling from Europe (including Russia) to East Asian countries (Guangzhou, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Bangkok, Jakarta) or vice versa, reports Travel.ru's own correspondent.

The promotion works a little strangely. Passengers are asked to first book a hotel (it is the Grand Millennium Muscat with 328 rooms in the center of Muscat) by filling out a special form on the Oman Air website, and only after making sure that there are seats available for the promotion, buy the flight itself. It is not entirely clear what the mechanism is for canceling hotel reservations for those customers who subsequently do not buy an air ticket, or whether such a mechanism exists at all.

The promotion applies only to passengers transiting through Oman on a single ticket between Europe and Asia during the four summer months and does not apply to customers who have purchased a direct flight to Muscat itself. The promotion includes double rooms for one night, upon check-in you will need to present your air ticket and boarding pass. If you wish to stay in Muscat for a longer period, you can book further nights at the same or another hotel in the city at the usual rates.

Previously, similar offers were only available for first and business class passengers. Oman Air has been operating daily flights from Muscat to Moscow since the end of 2018. Visas to Oman can now be obtained online.
