From January 1, 2019, the cost of a multiple-entry US B1/B2 visa (for tourist and business trips) valid for three years will almost double. This is stated on the website of the US Embassy in the Russian Federation.
The fee will increase based on the “principle of reciprocity” and will be equal to the fee charged by the Russian Federation to US citizens for the same type of visa. Thus, now with the cost of $160 for a three-year visa, the additional fee will be $143, and Russian citizens will have to pay $303 (about 21 thousand rubles) for such a visa.
The embassy website notes that no additional fee will be charged to Russian citizens for a US visa valid for up to 12 months – such a visa will cost $160.
Let us recall that the time it takes for Russian citizens to obtain a US visa has increased significantly in 2017 due to a large-scale reduction in the number of employees at US embassies and consulates at the request of the Russian side. Now the waiting time for a mandatory visa interview reaches nine months.
