The ancient city of Perge, located near Antalya, is expected to be visited by every third tourist coming to Turkey's most popular resort this year, reports Yeni Alanya.
Last week, the PR campaign “Visit Perge!” was launched in Antalya, calling on city guests to visit this amazing place, immerse themselves in history, and learn a lot of new and interesting things.
The campaign is aimed at the Turkish, German, British and Russian markets. The landmark is expected to attract around 4 million tourists this year.
Recently, excavations have been carried out on the territory of the ancient city, and restoration of ancient monuments has been carried out. These processes are taking place here and now.
"Our goal is for Perge to be visited by every third tourist who comes to Antalya. Our city and its surroundings are very generous in terms of creating new emotions. Gastronomy, ancient history, nature, culture - all this will allow guests to get them in full. One of the main global trends in travel today is the reluctance of tourists, especially young ones, to lie on the beach all their vacation. They are looking for different adventures," said the Governor of Antalya Munir Karaloglu.
According to him, this year the authorities are promoting the city of Perge in the markets, and in the following years they plan to focus the attention of tourists on other ancient cities located near Antalya, including Aspendos and Phaselis.
