On July 9, the all-season and mountain resort "Gorki Gorod" hosted special guests - representatives of the media who were covering the World Cup in the Sochi City Press Center. About 30 regional, federal and foreign journalists visited the Krasnaya Polyana mountains as part of a press tour.
The excursion to Gorki Gorod and Sky Park was one of the final activities for the media that were organized at the Sochi City Press Center. The match period of the 2018 World Cup at the Fisht Stadium has ended, and that same evening, most of the federal and international press left Sochi. However, the City Press Center will continue its work until July 16, 2018 — journalists will take part in several press conferences and a final sightseeing tour of Sochi.
Let us recall that the Sochi City Press Center was ceremoniously opened for the media on July 13, the day before the opening of the World Cup, in the Olympic Park, in the Sochi Autodrom building. The opening took place with the participation of the Governor of Krasnodar Krai Veniamin Kondratyev and the Mayor of Sochi Anatoly Pakhomov.
The press center is designed for simultaneous work of up to 120 journalists. It has workstations with computers and high-speed Internet, a hall for holding press conferences, and a press cafe. During all the days of the press center's work, it was in great demand for journalists covering the stages of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. All journalists had access to this press center, but first of all, it was organized for media representatives who did not receive official FIFA accreditation. They were the ones who told their viewers, listeners, and readers interesting "near-football" stories related to the city of Sochi.
Over 40 press events are planned for the 35 days of the center's work, including teleconferences with 10 cities-hosts of the World Cup with the participation of federal, regional and city speakers. Presentations of the tourist opportunities of the resorts of Krasnodar Krai are held here. The press center for journalists organizes daily tastings of products from enterprises of Krasnodar Krai and the city of Sochi, free coffee breaks and interesting master classes. Also, media representatives have the opportunity to relax, visiting the historical part of the city, Krasnaya Polyana and its highest accessible point - the Black Pyramid peak at the Gorki Gorod resort (elevation +2375 m). Thus, the City Press Center has created all the conditions under which journalists not only receive a lot of useful information, but can also get to know the hospitality of the city of Sochi better.
