Another, even dirtier spot on the plane has been found

According to the latest research, the headrest and seat pocket are the dirtiest places on a plane, the Daily Star reports.

Marketplace has launched a review of two dozen flights on the Ottawa-Montreal route to find out in which parts of the plane The largest number of microbes and bacteria awaits the passenger. The dirtiest place on board the airliners turned out to be the headrests of the seats. The conclusion of microbiologists says that in this area a high level of bacteria, yeast and mold was found, which can cause a serious infection. Scientists were especially surprised by the fact that a type of bacteria found on the headrests is found in the intestines of humans and animals.

The seat pockets were no less dirty. This place also threatens a person with serious food poisoning and infection. Biologists have named stomach cramps, vomiting and diarrhea, which can last up to 7 days, as classic symptoms of such diseases. Interestingly, crew members confirm the words of scientists. Flight attendants on Ottawa-Montreal flights reported that used diapers, food wrappers and even tampons are often found in pockets.

Marketplace said the headrests and seat pockets were dirtier than items on board such as the seat belt, tray table and toilet paper holder in the restroom.

In February, a similar study was conducted on several American airlines and at three major U.S. airports. The dirtiest spot on a plane was the toilet flush button, where microbiologists found more than 95,000 germs. For comparison, there are 361 germs on a home kitchen countertop, and about 30 on the toilet handle in an average apartment. The next dirtiest areas were the passenger seat tray table and the passenger seat belt buckle. The dirtiest spots in airports were the screens of self-service check-in terminals, the armrests of seats in waiting rooms, and the buttons for water fountains.
